- Download and share offlinePrint it on packaging, receipts, posters and table cards.
Why make your own Instagram QR code?
Instagram has its own "QR code" feature in the app, but it gives you only a few color themes and the code is tied to the app's design. With this generator you get a standard QR code that:
- opens your profile on any phone, even if Instagram isn't installed (it opens in the browser),
- can be styled with your colors, dot shapes and logo,
- can point to a specific post or reel, not just your profile,
- downloads as a high-resolution PNG, SVG or PDF for professional printing.
The code contains the plain link https://www.instagram.com/yourname/. Nothing is redirected through our servers, so the code never expires and there are no scan limits.
8 places to put your Instagram QR code
- Product packaging and thank-you cards: "Tag us in your photos".
- Shop windows and counters: passers-by follow you even when you're closed.
- Restaurant tables: next to the menu QR code.
- Business cards: one code for your portfolio.
- Event backdrops and photo booths: "Post with #yourhashtag".
- Flyers and posters: link to a reel that shows what you do.
- Email signatures and presentations.
- Your other social channels: cross-promote from YouTube or TikTok.
Design tips for Instagram codes
- Keep the background light. The classic Instagram gradient looks great in the dots, but white dots on a gradient background are often unreadable.
- Make the call to action specific: "FOLLOW FOR DAILY SPECIALS" works better than "SCAN ME".
- Use the rounded or dots style for a friendly, social look. Our scan test will warn you if a combination becomes hard to read.
- Print at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide for packaging and 10 cm or more on posters viewed from a distance.
Troubleshooting Instagram QR codes
"Sorry, this page isn't available." The username is misspelled, or the account is private or deactivated. Usernames are not case-sensitive, but dots and underscores matter: plora.kit and plorakit are different accounts.
The code opens the browser instead of the app. This depends on the phone's settings, not on the code. On Android, check Settings → Apps → Instagram → Open by default → "Open supported links". On iPhone, the Camera app normally hands Instagram links to the app.
People land on a login wall. Instagram sometimes asks logged-out visitors to sign in after a few seconds. Link to a public post or reel instead of the profile if your audience is mostly non-users, or link to your website, which shows your feed.
A quick checklist before you print
- Scan the test print with an iPhone and an Android phone.
- Check that the profile is public and the bio explains what you do.
- Pin your best three posts so new visitors see them first.
- Keep a dark dot color on a light background; use the Indigo or Sunset quick styles for a social look that still scans.
- Add a reason to follow in the frame text: "DAILY SPECIALS", "NEW DROPS EVERY FRIDAY".
Make one code per campaign
If you print codes in several places, a separate code for each placement tells you what works. Link to a different post per placement, or to a link-in-bio page with UTM tags on each link. The bulk generator can create the whole set from a spreadsheet, with a different frame text on each code.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to log in to Instagram to make the code?
No. You only need your username or a link. We never ask for your Instagram password.
Will the QR code still work if I change my username?
No. The old username is in the link. If you rename your account, make a new code.
Can I link to a specific post or reel?
Yes. In Instagram tap ⋯ → Copy link on the post, then paste the link into the field.
What if the person doesn't have Instagram?
The link opens in their web browser, where they can see your public profile.
Is the Instagram logo allowed in my QR code?
You can use your own brand logo freely. If you use the Instagram glyph, follow Instagram's brand guidelines (no modifications, correct colors).
Does the code count scans?
Static codes don't track scans. You can see profile visits in Instagram Insights.
